Equine Facilitated Learning and Shamanic Journeying
In this four-session program, you will learn to partner with horses in assisting clients who are:
- on a path of personal growth
- seeking to make life changes
- looking to develop intuitive leadership skills
- questing for ways to accept life on life’s terms
- called by the horses….
With horses as guides and teachers, apprentices will explore the ways ancient practices of shamanism can support and enhance their learning experience in this Equine Facilitated Learning program.
Upon completion of this program at Loghaven, graduates will be able to employ EFL and basic shamanic journeywork with their own or others’ horses, with clients and in workshops or retreats. Graduates will receive a certificate of course completion and be called Equine Shamanic Practitioners. For those who are interested in national certification in the new and emerging field of EFL, completion of this program will assist in preparation for the examination given by the Certification Board for Equine Interaction Professionals (info@equinefacilitatedprofessional.org).
In the Equine Shamanic Apprenticeship Program, you will learn by doing the following skills and techniques:
- Shamanic journeying through the Way of the Horse
- Shamanic ceremonies and journey rides for EFL
- Shamanic empowerment for yourself and clients
- Working with energy, nature and the seasonal cycles
- Working with the Four Agreements for EFL
- Heartwork with horses
- Emotional fitness skills for yourself and your clients
- Facilitating reconnection with the Authentic Self
- Using the body as a sensing device
- Developing discernment, perception and awareness
- Creating Hollow Bone or clean, empty vessel
- Managing a herd with safety and success for EFL
- Basic horse handling skills for your assistants
- Integrating a yoga practice with EFL to open body, mind and spirit
- Setting and maintaining personal boundaries
- Creating the Sacred Space of Possibility in EFL
- Reflective and Active Round Pen work with horses
- Reflective Grooming
- Creative arts for EFL
- Conducting Individual Intensives with horses and clients
- Understanding small group dynamics
- Conflict resolution
- Enabling authentic community
- Conducting EFL workshops
- Marketing and managing a sustainable and spiritually oriented business
Equine Shamanic Apprenticeship Prerequisites:
- 3-day EFL workshop at Loghaven or one given by an Epona Approved Instructor
- Demonstrable ability to handle horses or completion of 2-day Basic Horse Handling Workshop at Loghaven (horse ownership is NOT a requirement)
- Physical fitness appropriate for safe groundwork with horses
- No active mental health issues
- Letter of application and program completion commitment
- Telephone interview
- $100 deposit with $50 refundable if not accepted or unable to attend

Equine Shamanic Apprenticeship Program Includes:
- Four six-day sessions on site at Loghaven including meals and shared accommodations
- Monthly teleclass reviewing essential program components and assignments
- Six individual sessions with Eve for support, program development, client management and business development
- Equine Shamanic Practitioners Manual with workshop forms and materials, guidelines, course outlines and marketing materials
- Post graduation supervision and support
